There will be no High School Musical 4 or 5
Filming will begin in the spring with the series' director, Kenny Ortega, who said that he's excited to be working one last time with the cast, who were all virtually unknown before the first "HSM" debuted on the Disney Channel in January 2006. The movie went on to be the highest-rated program in the channel's history, and the soundtrack to its first sequel was the second-best-selling album of 2007.
"I am the luckiest guy in the world and I know it," Ortega said. "This will be our last time together, and I love working with these kids so much. It's going to be great."
Everyone's back. All six stars of "High School Musical" will be onboard for the first big-screen adventure for the Disney Channel juggernaut. That means Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman will suit up for "High School Musical 3: Senior Year," slated for release on October 24, 2008.
The third installment will find high school seniors Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) dealing with the prospect of being separated as they head to different colleges. And, as usual, they will join the rest of the Wildcat gang to stage an elaborate musical to deal with it.
Budding pop singer Tisdale, who will, of course, be back in the role of jealous diva Sharpay Evans, told People she's also psyched about one more go-round at East High.
"I'm excited," she said. "But it's going to be sad. It seems like it will be graduation, and I'll be crying while we're filming."

High School Musical's 2-Year Anniversary!
That's right guys, it has now been 2 years since the phenomenon known as "High School Musical" was premiered on Disney Channel January 20th, 2006, which had 7.7 million viewers! The soundtrack quickly reached the top position on the Billboard 200 and became RIAA triple-platinum certified. Ashley made music history by being the first female artist to ever debut with two songs simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (“Bop To The Top” and “What I’ve Been Looking For,” both duets with co-star Lucas Grabeel). So much has come from the success of these amazing individuals including a 40-city concert tour, stage productions, an ice show, a book series, a video game, the awesome sequel, "High School Musical 2," and has launched the careers of our favorite 6 HSM stars in both film, television, music, and more! Congratulations to the cast of "High School Musical." In honor of the anniversary, here are some awesome photos of the HSM Cast at their London photoshoot! (Click the pictures below)

Utah Offering $2M Incentive for "High School Musical 3'
With the first two "High School Musical" productions proving to be big hits, a state board is putting out a $2 million incentive to make sure a third installment also is shot in Utah. Meeting in Price, the Governor's Office of Economic Development Board approved several economic development incentives Friday, including the package for High School Musical 3 Productions Inc. If the film company selects Utah, it would receive the state's biggest production incentive ever. An offer of $263,000 was approved for "High School Musical" and another for $500,000 was earmarked for the sequel. According to board documents, the film's budget is $13.3 million, and 99 percent of that would be spent in Utah. The production would involve 190 crew positions at $1,875 per week; plus $58,498 for stunt performers; $15,000 for Utah casting directors; and $472,640 for about 4,000 Utah extras. The production would take place over 41 days, starting April 21.
Popularity of both "High School Musical" films has prompted people from across the country to visit East High School to see where the films were made.
To capitalize further on that fame, East High students put on several sold-out performances of the "High School Musical" play as their fall musical. The production's popularity was expected to gross more than $25,000 for the school. The school's popularity rose sharply following the second film's release to the public. School leaders estimated over the summer 40 to 50 people would wander the building to see areas where the movies had been filmed.

Vanessa Hudgens Wants a Driver’s License for Christmas
The stars of the High School Musical franchise shared what’s on their wishlist this holiday season with USA Today. Here’s what they had to say:
VANESSA HUDGENS
On her wish list: “My driver’s license. I plan on taking my test really soon.”
A favorite holiday tradition: “Putting up the Christmas tree together as a family. I love doing themes. This year is going to be gold and crystal.”
Her hope for Gabriella in HSM3: “We’re all going to be seniors, so I hope she gets into a good college.”
ZAC EFRON
On his wish list: “I’m constantly breaking things, and I go through skateboards pretty fast. So a new Sector 9 Longboard would be nice.”
A favorite holiday tradition: “I always help pick out a natural, chopped-down-in-the-woods tree, so our whole house starts to smell like Christmas.”
His hope for Troy in HSM3: “To win another basketball game — maybe even nationals.”
ASHLEY TISDALE
On her wish list: “Christian Louboutin heels.”
A favorite holiday tradition: “My great-grandma has passed the tradition of Christmas cookies on to my grandma and my mom. The recipe is top secret.”
Her hope for Sharpay in HSM3: “To win prom queen. She didn’t get the musical in the first one. She didn’t get the guy in the sequel. She needs to be prom queen!”
LUCAS GRABEEL
On his wish list: “A package of guitar picks. I’m always losing them.”
A favorite holiday tradition: “I’m always in a different country for Christmas, so I’m always adapting to traditions abroad.”
His hope for Ryan in HSM3: “That he takes a break from dance steps. Maybe join the basketball team and shoot the winning goal. That would be fabulous.”
